WINTER AWARDS

December 1st 2024 To March 1st 2025

English Castles & Lighthouse Winter Awards is a great way of having fun with your radio during the cold winter months, whilst earning extra activator and hunter awards. Taking part is a great way to add to your normal English Castles and Lighthouse awards scores as every reference worked and activated is added to your totals plus they are also valid for everyones World Castles Awards as well as Battle Royale and Lighthouse Lightships World ranking events. It’s easy to take part just activate/hunt as many English Castles and/or English Lighthouse Awards references as you can between December the 1st, throughout the Christmas period and up to March the 1st. There are no winners or losers here its just for fun, everyone who wants a participation certificate can apply if they have taken part, however there are incentives for doing more.

Winter Awards Rankings

Click the image below for your current standings. You can check your worked references by clicking on your callsign. Your statistics are calculated from uploaded activators logs, they will be updated daily or as time allows. These statistics are final, totals will not be changed because of hunter or activator error whilst logging Qso’s.

Activators

Awards are issued for activating 5/10/20/30/40 and up to 50+ English Castles and Lighthouse Awards references, multi reference activations are fine. Activators may continue to collect Winter Awards up to 100 activated references in increments of 10. All activations go towards their standard awards totals. As activators reach the required levels, awards will become available for download beside their activator stats on the rankings link above. The idea is to try and collect the full set of limited edition awards obtaining all 5 or 10 stars or as near to it as possible, activators earn their first star at 10 qualified references. All activations must be qualified of course. That’s a minimum of 50 Qso’s for a castle activation or 25 for a lighthouse. Activators and hunters only receive credit towards Winter Awards once the reference/s have been qualified. Activators should not log same band, same mode duplicate Qso’s from a previous unsuccessful activation should they return at a later date to qualify the activity with their previous .adi log file.

Hunters

Hunters are credited with 1 point per qualified activated reference. If the reference is not qualified no points are given to the hunter or the activator. Only when the reference is qualified and uploaded do both parties receive credit. Working the same activator/same band/same mode on a previously activated but unqualified activation is a dupe for the activator, the hunter will not be credited again. Hunters do not need to log multiple Qso’s on different bands or modes, only 1 Qso is valid/necessary for Winter Awards. However!!! It is very beneficial for everyone to work each other on as many different bands and modes as possible as of course these additional Qso’s all count towards the yearly Battle Royale and Lighthouse Lightships events for both hunters and activators. Hunters awards will be made available for the top 250 hunters via their statistics page shortly after Winter Awards is complete.

Special Event Stations

During the event various special event castle and lighthouse callsigns will be active. Each Qso with any of the SES callsigns GBØECA, GBØELA, GBØWCA, GB1ELA, GB1ECA, GB1WCA and GB2WCA are worth 10 points per band per mode! These points will automatically be applied to your worked references totals as the database above is populated!

Winter Awards Top Activator & Hunter

The first activator to 50 activated references (myself MØMJA excluded) & the hunter with the most worked references at the end of the winter awards period will receive a winter awards gift from us.
